These COVID-friendly Micro Weddings prove that love isn’t cancelled.
In light of the current global pandemic, couples have had to get creative when planning their COVID-friendly micro weddings. Unable to know what 2020 was going to throw their way, couples across the world have had to rethink their nuptials. While many have postponed entirely, others have forged ahead, finding unique ways to celebrate their special day. For those who didn’t want to be beholden to the unknown, they’ve rather bravely and beautifully chosen to take control of their lives, choosing to re envision their wedding day, so they can start their lives together as a married couple. The results? Well, they’ve been just as romantic, special, and breathtaking as any of the large, intricate weddings we’ve ever seen.
Take live streamed weddings as an example. What once felt like a novelty are now a common occurrence and amazing way to connect with friends and family. Despite the digital, physical, or social distance, these weddings are surprisingly intimate. This is true not just for the couple, but for the guests as well. The couples are able to focus all their attention on one another and the moment, in a way slowing things down so they can savour every second. As well, with so few guests, those included feel incredibly honoured to be witness to such a special and intimate moment in this couple’s life.
Much of this creativity is thanks to incredible wedding planners, such as the unstoppable team at Muse Event Co.. When it became clear that COVID was going to greatly impact weddings for the foreseeable future, these brilliant women launched The Elopement Edit, a beautiful and intimate celebration of marriage. Laura & Co. Events partnered with vendors and friends they could trust to offer couples in the Toronto Area a solution that would allow them to have a wedding they’d never forget. A curated experience to offer couples a perfect micro wedding for up to 30 guests at the beautiful Graydon Hall Manor.
We chatted with the team to hear their inspiration for the experience, and their thoughts on the day itself. “Our focus was on helping couples whose original wedding days were affected by COVID-19.” the team explained. The vision of the Elopement Edit was to allow these couples a unique opportunity to host a wedding ceremony without the stress of planning a short notice event during the time of a pandemic. The idea was inspired by Vegas-elopements and ‘pop-up chapels’, but elevated. Think refined, stylish, and memorable.
All of the couples planned COVID-friendly micro weddings or elopements were incredible. Despite each holding individual stories as to how their weddings were impacted by COVID, they were able to adapt and move forward with a reimagined wedding of their dreams. “It was important for all these couples to be married this summer and we were thrilled to have been able to make it happen for them.” the team at Laura & Co. said. The team has seen a true mix of ceremonies and circumstances on the beautiful grounds of Graydon Hall Manor. One couple decided to elope - just the two of them - using two members of the team as their witnesses, while others moved their date up, so they were able to participate in the Elopement Edit with their family bubble.
To pull off the marriage of five couples in one day, Laura & Co. Events needed partners they could trust. The team chose vendors like Graydon Hall Manor, Jen Evoy Makeup Studio, Rachel A. Clingen Wedding & Event Design, Nadia & Co, and our team of Toronto Wedding Photographers to bring these special ceremonies to life. “We hand selected some of our favourite vendors in the industry who we knew could accomplish the Elopement Edit with us in a safe and beautiful way.” the team said. While romance, whimsy, and personalized experiences were a huge priority, the safety and health of all those involved were paramount to the success of these special Toronto ceremonies.
Being a part of these unique, COVID-friendly micro wedding ceremonies was something our team will never forget. The beautiful day showered the couples in warm, natural light, and with some of the pressure of a large wedding no longer lingering, we were able to capture a beautiful mix of fun and candid shots, as well as more editorial and classic shots to suit the style of each couple.
Yes - wedding plans have had to shift in order to adapt to the Coronavirus, but when you look a little closer, not much else has changed. Couples are still making beautiful commitments to one another, family and friends are more important than ever, and best of all - love is still being celebrated.
