If you’re interested in planning a Bahamas destination wedding, then you’re going to want to keep scrolling through Maren & Anthony’s dreamy celebration. The couple hosted an elegant yet laid-back beach wedding at the Pink Sands Resort in Harbour Island, Bahamas.
But before we describe the details of their tropical affair, let’s rewind a little bit. Maren & Anthony have known each other since high school. In fact, they first locked eyes in their freshman year when they had a class together and lockers right beside one another. While they remained good friends throughout high school and even kept in touch during college, they only started dating after graduating from college. At the time, Anthony was living in Atlanta and Maren was in Miami. This meant that a long-distance relationship was in the cards – at least for a little while. Thankfully, their near-decade of friendship gave them the strong base they needed for their LDR to flourish.

Fast forward to Anthony’s thoughtful proposal in West Palm Beach. The couple were staying at Maren’s parent’s condo in Juno Beach when Anthony suggested that they meet some friends at a bar in the area. After getting dressed up for the occasion but before they headed out the door, Anthony asked Maren if she wanted to have a quick espresso martini with him on the top floor balcony. It was there, overlooking the ocean, that Anthony asked Maren to marry him. Of course, Maren said yes! Little did she know that a drone was flying overhead capturing the entire proposal. To Maren’s delight, Anthony had also invited their families and close friends to share in the celebration, so when they went back downstairs to the condo, everyone was there to greet them!
Following the proposal, Maren & Anthony went into wedding planning mode. For the newly engaged couple, getting married in the Bahamas was a no-brainer. Maren grew up vacationing in the Bahamas with her family, and so she already had lots of wonderful memories of her time on the islands. “The Bahamas is a really special place to us, we love being on island time and the relaxed nature of the islands,” shares the bride. Over the couple’s wedding weekend, the bride’s father brought his bought, which served as a stunning location for some couple’s portraits prior to the welcome party. The welcome party was held on the beach and featured a bonfire for close family and friends.

After researching a number of Bahamas destination wedding resorts, Maren & Anthony both knew that the Pink Sands Resort was the perfect location for them. Named after the pink sand beaches that Harbour Island is known for, the Bahamas wedding venue features a plein air garden terrace, where the couple held their tropical garden ceremony, as well as the Blue Bar, a covered outdoor space where the reception was held.

A few other reasons that the couple chose the Bahamas were because of the laid-back island vibe and the stunning natural scenery. “For the style of the wedding, I wanted to stay true to that relaxed nature and channel that energy into the wedding week. I wanted to keep things classic, colorful, and simple. The islands are so beautiful and I loved that we wouldn’t need to do too much to decorate, just add to the natural beauty,” shares Maren.

Enhancing the island’s natural beauty is exactly what Maren & Anthony did, along with their Bahamas wedding planner, The Eventeur. To bring the couple’s Pink Sands Resort wedding to life, decor included wicker chairs and place settings, fresh white linens, and vibrant peach florals. To complement the vivid centrepieces, Maren’s bridesmaids wore brightly coloured gowns of their own.

Speaking of gowns, Maren wowed guests with multiple designer looks throughout the various events. She debuted a satin silk, off-the-shoulder corset gown by Vivienne Westwood at the ceremony, before changing into a ruffle mini dress by Jacquemus at the reception. The bride’s second look was perfect for dancing the night away – and that’s exactly what she and her guests did! “[One of my] favorite memories was the Love Train that everyone joined in on on the dance floor! We had an amazing DJ and every moment after dinner was spent on the dance floor just enjoying the night,” says Maren.
Lastly, when it came to their Bahamas wedding photographer, Maren & Anthony were over the moon with 515 Photo Co. According to Maren, “I feel like I got the best of both worlds – working and spending time with our two amazing photographers, Mike and Sabrina, was a joy, and the final images made my jaw drop! I have loved revisiting the photos of the whole wedding weekend just to see the beautiful little moments 515 captured.”
